The Science Behind CleverSleep®

At the heart of CleverSleep® is our proprietary CleverSleep Sleep Assessment System (SAS™), developed from more than twenty years of clinical sleep practice and thousands of real-world sleep consultations. Unlike traditional sleep questionnaires that provide a single snapshot in time, the SAS™ was designed as a structured assessment framework capable of identifying and monitoring the many factors that influence sleep over time. These include sleep initiation, night-time awakenings, return-to-sleep difficulties, total sleep time, stress, lifestyle influences, environmental factors, hormonal changes and other contributors to sleep disruption. The CleverSleep SAS™ was most recently validated through two independent clinical research programmes, where ongoing and repeated assessments were conducted over time to monitor changes in real human sleep-related outcomes. This longitudinal approach allows the CleverSleep system to identify patterns and trends that may not be visible through single-night sleep tracking alone.

Today, the CleverSleep SAS™ serves as the assessment foundation of the CleverSleep® platform. It converts information gathered from structured sleep assessments, wearable technology and ongoing user interactions into a practical framework that helps identify sleep-related patterns, monitor change over time and guide personalised sleep-support strategies.

 

When you first join CleverSleep®, your onboarding process will guide you through our in-depth CleverSleep SAS™ assessment. Your answers are treated with respect and confidentiality because we recognise that many people are sharing deeply personal information about their health, sleep, stress, lifestyle and wellbeing.

 

Once completed, your personalised sleep report will be generated and made available within your profile. The entire CleverSleep platform uses our simple Green, Amber and Red guidance framework, allowing you to quickly identify which areas of your sleep and wellbeing are currently balanced and which may benefit from greater attention.

Your report is divided into ten key areas of sleep and health. Each section is assessed individually and assigned a Green, Amber or Red status, helping you understand where your greatest opportunities for improvement may exist as you begin your sleep journey.

CleverSleep® is technology agnostic. We do not have a preferred wearable device and are designed to work alongside many of the world’s leading sleep tracking platforms. Whether you use Apple, Oura, WHOOP, Garmin or other compatible technologies, your wearable helps measure what happens during sleep each night.

 

Wearable devices are exceptionally good at identifying what happened during the night. The CleverSleep SAS™ helps uncover why it may be happening. Together, they provide a more complete understanding of your sleep than either approach can provide alone.

As part of your membership, your expert CleverSleep® supplements are delivered directly to your door each month. Your programme is continually reviewed and adjusted as your sleep patterns, assessment results and wearable data evolve over time. As your sleep stabilises, your programme may be refined, simplified or transitioned into a maintenance phase designed to support your ongoing sleep health.

 

Each morning, you simply synchronise your wearable device and allow a few minutes for your latest data to be transferred into the CleverSleep® platform. Once updated, your practitioner-level assessment engine evaluates your sleep using a more comprehensive and rigorous framework than many consumer sleep applications.

If CleverSleep awards you a strong sleep score, it is because your sleep has genuinely met the standards associated with healthy sleep architecture. As sleep practitioners, we believe meaningful feedback should reflect real progress, not simply provide reassurance.


Your dashboard provides an easy-to-understand overview of your night. You will see whether your overall sleep performance was Green, Amber or Red, your CleverSleep score, and detailed feedback on the individual sleep phases and components that contribute to healthy sleep architecture.


Together, the CleverSleep SAS™, wearable technology, practitioner expertise and personalised supplement programmes create a more complete picture of sleep and form the foundation of CleverSleep’s vision for precision sleep intelligence.
